In vitro fertilization Embryo Transfer
In vitro fertilization is the regular and mostly used method in the world for infertility.
It is an advanced technology for infertility treatment.

In vitro fertilization principles: a technique in which oocytes are fertilized by sperm in the
laboratory. IVF is a major treatment in infertility when other methods of achieving
conception have failed. The process involves hormonally controlling the ovulatory
process. Removing the stimulated oocytes (eggs) from the woman’s ovaries by aspiration
and letting sperm fertilise them in a fluid medium. The fertilized egg (zygote) is then
transferred to the patient’s uterus with the intent to establish a successful pregnancy.

Why we have to fertilize outside the body there are many caused of infertility. If couples
face the problem of infertility, they should see a doctor to treat their abnormality, The
easiest method of treat6ment is intrauterine insemination but is the least effective, it is
better to use the test tube method. Test tube baby is an advanced technology to treat
couples who are having problems reproducing by themselves, as the following:

Fallopian tube obstruction or it is  cut.
Severe pelvic endometriosis
Pelvic adhesion
Low Quality of the sperm
In the case of unexplained infertility and unidentified caused and the couples have
tried intrauterine insemination several times and there is still no pregnancy.

The Test Tube Process In Vitro Fertilization
1. To give hormones to stimulate mature eggs 9oocytes).
2. To examine and control the response of the ovary for suitable doses of medicine by
the hormonal blood test and transvaginal ultrasound.
3. To aspirate the stimulated eggs from the ovaries through vaginal process under
ultrasound, there is no wound from the operation and takes 10-30 minutes under
    anaesthesia.

4. To collect the sperm on the same day as removal of the eggs.
5. To fertilize the eggs with sperm in the laboratory on the same day and incubate the
    eggs for approximately 48-72 hours.
6. To transfer the embryos back to the uterus for implantation.
7. To examine the pregnancy result about 10-14 days after implanting the embryos.

What is the success rate?
The success rate of in vitro fertilization depends on each couple and the expertise of the
laboratory. In general, the patient has a 30-40 percent chance of a successful
pregnancy, In the near future the success rate of in vitro fertilization will gradually
increase. Important factors effecting the success rate depend on the age of the woman,
quality and amount of sperm and the causes of infertility of each couple.
